Is euchre luck or skill?
Both. The deal is luck, but over an evening of games the players who bid sensibly, count trump and read their partner win far more often.
Can you play euchre with 2 or 3 people?
Yes. Two-handed euchre and three-handed (cutthroat) euchre are both popular. The standard game is for four players in two teams.
Why is the jack the highest card?
Once trump is chosen, the jack of trump (the right bower) becomes the highest card, and the other jack of the same color (the left bower) becomes second highest and counts as trump.
What does "euchred" mean?
If the team that chose trump fails to take at least three of the five tricks, they are euchred, and the other team scores 2 points.
What is the Benny?
A joker added to the deck as the highest trump of all, above the right bower. It's mostly used in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
